A Perfect Get Away

Surrounded by the beautiful autumn leaves, this is a wonderful time of the year to explore the scenic trails of Blue Mountain, while connecting with other women who share a passion for trail running.  Over the course of the weekend, you will have the opportunity to explore different trails, engage in discussions and receive expert advice relating to run form and technique, training considerations, injury prevention, and more. But this retreat is not all about physical activity; it’s also about taking some time out for yourself, to focus on you and to recharge your batteries. You will leave on Sunday feeling more knowledgeable, confident, renewed and inspired!

This retreat is open to anyone who embraces the magic of the trails. It doesn’t matter how often you run, how fast you can run, or how long you have been running; the trails don’t discriminate! All runs can be tailored to meet you where you are at.  See FAQ for more information.

What to Expect

Friday night begins with a casual dinner served from a local caterer, as we get to know each other and start to engage in some great discussions. Wake up Saturday morning to the smell of fresh baked muffins and a hearty breakfast, fuelling your body for your morning run on nearby trails. This run will focus on technique, and you will receive on-the-spot feedback on how to better navigate technical terrain, how to tackle hills and how to better pace yourself. Following lunch and another information session, there will be the option for a leisurely run or a hike, a stroll in the village, or simply relax in the hot tub. Unwind in the evening with a delicious catered meal, then sit back and engage in more lively discussions and a chance to win awesome draw prizes. Sunday morning begins with the option of a short run to catch the sunrise (or take a pass and get a bit more zzz). Following a light breakfast with fresh baked pastries, there will be one final longer run to finish the weekend off.

“I loved that it was a women’s only event as I feel like we all got to chat about topics that we normally would not have with men present. The food was delicious and the women were great. The trails were beautiful with lots of options for runs and distances – no one felt pressured to run more or longer.”

Frequently Asked Questions

What changes have been made in light of COVID-19?

All rooms are now private, unless specifically asked to share with a friend or family members; this has resulted in slight price changes compared to lasts year. We will support government regulations and recommendations at the time. For instance, if masks are mandatory (exemption for medical reasons) for indoor spacing when physical distancing cannot be maintained. Weather permitting, we will spend as much time outdoors as possible i.e. eating lunch on the patio, having discussions etc.

Is this for me?

If you want to treat yourself to an amazing weekend, love trail running and want to 1) learn more; 2) meet other fabulous women 3) replenish your body and soul; and 4) discover some great trails—then yes, this is for you!

Why is this Women’s Only?

My other retreats are open to both men and women. And I love working with both!!!  But I like the idea of a women’s only retreat because it allows for discussions of a different nature; plus there’s a unique connection that naturally evolves when you get a bunch of women together.

Do I have to participate in all runs?

No! This weekend is all about you, and what you need. You can choose to skip a run and go for a walk instead or simply stay back and chill. Or you can get in as much running as possible. With the exception of the run where we focus on technique, the routes are such that you can tailor the distance to your preference.

I’m not fast. Can I still come?

Of course! The runs are set up to accommodate different paces.

How much distance do we cover in the runs?

Run distances are customizable and are based on your pace and preference. Runs can be anywhere between 45min to 2hrs+ at a leisure pace depending on your preference.

What are the accommodations like?

We are staying in two ski chalets close to the village. It is an open-concept main living area and kitchen with lots of windows. Balconies with great views, hot tub and BBQ. Accommodations vary from dorm-style single rooms to private queen with full ensuite. Rooms are selected on a first-come first-serve basis.

What do I need to bring?

Whatever you need for running-including trail run shoes, multiple change of clothes, drinks and foods while running. Be prepared for various weather conditions as we run rain or shine or mud!. All meals are provided however you are welcomed to bring some snacks. You are required to bring linen pillow covers, towel and toiletries.

When does it start and finish?

For those who can make it, there will be an optional run Friday mid afternoon; otherwise we start with dinner around 6-7pm. We will be finishing late Sunday morning, with a quick lunch to send you on your way

Can you cater to special diets?

Yes, within reason. I just need to know in advance please. A small additional fee may apply.

Is it refundable?

Unfortunately payment is non-refundable unless we can find someone to take you place. In the event that the retreat is cancelled due to a COVID outbreak, you have the choice of a refund or transferring your registration to either the spring or fall weekend event.
